Book Review: Amazing Grace

This is a book about a great man, and I'm glad that I read it.  It was recommended to me by a dear friend, and I'm glad she recommended it because reading the book has really has really given me some profound insights.

I think that the most important part of the book was the introduction.  In it it points out that William Wilberforce and the Claptham Sect really changed the world in a profound way.  Before them the world had always accepted slavery, after words slavery was no longer acceptable.  Before them the world just accepted that there were poor in the world, even Christians accepted that, and that the poor were responsible for their condition.  After the Claptham Sect became the social conscience for society it was no longer acceptable that society should do nothing to help the unfortunate amongst us.  This book shows how this great change came about and introduces the reader to the man who was a driving force behind the changes.

It's too  bad we don't know more about men like this today.  I would highly recommend everyone to learn more about William Wilberforce and this book is a good way to do it.
